( Does she mean Firzgerald? Of course! He is so funny and raunchy".)
Mary is on site for the summer. Her homemade noodles fried to a crisp in excellent butter; always with fresh lettuce sandwiches. A light lunch so we could go for a swim on the beach below soon. One hour? Says who!
Bridge in the late afternoon; the boys are out playing with their rigging; a big race on Sunday. I hope I have enough clean whites to look smashing. With the bridge came those yummy lobster sandwiches, so petite and moist from sitting in the linen wrappings, soft white bread with no crusts. They were served with crisp carved radishes - looked like a rose garden. Mary was so talented!!
Funny thing looking back; almost everyone had a single bed for themselves. The only "doubling up" was in the master bedroom. they were married.
Dinner parties were the best!! fresh fish from the lake, corn on the cob and the best of company. Everyone was done in from boating activities but a bit of scotch or gin and the place got very lively. Jerome did his fabuous songs on the piano after dinner.
Lush summers! today when we go for a visit we are often expected to pitch in a bit around the house. Mary's kitchen is just the same; refrigerators for many snacks and room for rolling noodles. Tom's old room is still up those narrow stairs. He served at the BIG dinner parties as well as keeping lots of things up to snuff in the house and on the dock.
CAN YOU IMAGINE??
