Elegant and distinguished, the lush green lawn is watered automatically; the home is one part of one of original lakefront estates. The tree by the outdoor table is at least six feet in diameter. How about a guess of 400 or more years for this stunning cedar. Perhaps it was here even before the Indians found Lake Tahoe.

Squaw Valley Magic

Sometimes when you live in a community, a special house seems to have a draw upon you. I have always noticed this house. It is perched on a corner on a high noll. It has been recently updated. One can see the magnificent view all the way to the top of Squaw Valley. I'm sure with binoculars you might watch some of the racers coming down the slope, if you're not already on the slope yourself.

Meeks Bay Wonder
There are wide open spaces with no interior walls existing due to the strong timber frame construction of this home. It is perched on the shore of Meeks Bay with a deep water pier, boat lift, and again more amazing Lake Tahoe views! The house is on the market and may be purchased with the contractor completing according to your specifications. The contractor is Sherman Homes, a high quality builder with a long reputation in the North and West Tahoe areas.

STAIRS: Form & Function

As we look at houses, quietly they may leave us with a memory and impression of this or that. Remember that house with the beautiful floors! For some its kitchens; often it is the first impression driving up, or the master bedroom. For me, I remember the stairs. Some are very artful as photo above of outside stairs to back yard.
What is the rhythm as you climb..For builders, there is a formula of relation to rise to tred. Such minimum seems to work well; but it can get even better. Stairs that intrigue, break the rhythm part way, or the best; sometimes a stair seems to float one up to the next level. Of course when you encounter such a staircase, there should be equally wonderful surprises at the top.
The house is as special. This link provides more photos and information.
Imagine my delight at finding these stairs, and this house.

A Special Fit: gloves and houses

A home, a house of one's choice should fit you like a well crafted glove. Have you noticed how the fingers of some gloves never quite accomodate your fingers well? One of my peeves is winter gloves that get too wet and damp too fast. Life's inconveniences! Have you had the misfortune to find fresh snow invading your glove?
We feel the same way about houses. We are about finding the perfect fit; gloves which don't get damp, or leave invading spaces for unwanted 'stuff'. Each purchse of a home should make you feel like you have found that perfect fit.
I remember the feeling from our first home. We were so captivated - the 100 year old home - we never noticed there was only a claw foot tub, and no shower in the master. The house was so special and perfect in every other way, we adjusted on that first week.
WOW - these are Ugly gloves.. Live in a beautiful house!!

More Tahoe Lakefront Homes - Favorite of the Day
Summer: Food, Fashions, Flowers

Every Thursday the Commons Beach in Tahoe City is transformed for a few hours into a popular summer gathering and shopping spot. Today I found two food items, new to me: snack of dried yellow lentils - yum, and Spinach Bolani - vegetarian and a bit like a pizza, but light. Both are from the Indian market booths.

Squaw Valley & Alpine Meadows
condos of the Sierra come close to a price for the "everyman buyer". It's not too early to be thinking ahead. Prices are the best they have been in years. Interest rates are showing a small rise. DON'T WAIT.

Good Value Truckee Properties - Todays Featured
Properties can be purchased for great prices when they are listed as short sales (properties being sold for less than is owed to the bank by the seller), bank-owned properties (already owned by the bank through the foreclosure process), and motivated sellers. Todays featured properties show great deals in the Tahoe Donner area of Truckee. Check them out via the above link. Truckee is the first town you approach on Interstate 80 when travelling from Reno or the Sacramento/Bay Areas. It has old railroad town charm with a rustic downtown full of shopping and dining opportunities.

Soroptomist Wine Tasting at Coyote Moon was a Big Hit
Truckee River Winery poured some of their latest offerings at the Soroptomist Annual Wine Tasting Fund Raiser held Saturday at Coyote Moon. The event was a smash and earned the Soroptomists approximately $20,000 to better the lives of women and children throughout our community! We had a lot of fun and recommend everyone check it out next year!

France overlooking Beautiful Lake Tahoe

This "chateau" will transport you as soon as you drive up and step inside. The scale of home includes a dining room table which comfortably seats twelve. You may experience the feeling you are in two places at once. A fine experience of "bi-location"; and one doesn't even have to be "Beamed Up".
Squaw Valley Again...value here

Excellent value here for ever popular Squaw Valley. A fine place to raise a family or get away with friends for fun in the SUN and on the SLOPES.

BANK OWNED PROPERTIES

Links feature properties which are especially attrative in locations and pricing. The listings may vary greatly in price. Our opinion is they are all Well Priced for the area and amenities they represent.
Beauty from Tahoe Park Heights

We love the way this house feels when we walk in!
Timber frame construction supplies the architecture for a meticulous interior. G. Boutier is a stone craftsman of exceptional talent from the south of France; the same quality and detail one finds throughout the home. Views from this part of West Shore are exceptional. Next best thing from a lakefront to enjoy the magic.
Happy Birthday WKF
Anne is creating a funny Birthday card for her grandson since she can't be with him in person so he knows she is thinking of him and wishes she could be there.

Lake Tahoe High, Low of the Week
Tomorrow is tour day again: agents and brokers in the Lake Tahoe area will have the opportunity to review available listings. Perhaps we will have more intimate photos tomorrow after the tour.
The low is a cute, clean cottage on the West Shore.
The high is another lakefront estate. Quite pricey.
Will also note other propeties in this category as the lakefront tours progress in the next few weeks.

Of course the kitchen is where one or more of the group is preparing a great meal. Who is up next for a challenge at the pool table?

Bank Repo at Squaw Valley & Short Sale
BANK REPOSSESSION often finds the seller, the bank, most willing to deal. They now own the property and are responsable for all, even taxes.
SHORT SALE property is still in the hands of a private owner. Listed for sale, the bank holds hope for a good buyer. Negotiating can be tricky.

MAGICAL WEST SHORE at TAHOE
The owner of this house is spending most of his time at an art school in Florence. What a great skill tranference for a retired surgeon. The home is unusual and full of surprises with each step. The main house has six bedrooms plus cabins, a deep water pier, and fabulous deck overlooking the lake.
